I love the colour combination too. The new linsey-woolsey is waiting to go to the mill on Thursday. The mill wash, full (bash it about and start the felting process) and press it on big heavy rollers with steam. It shrinks the cloth as well as cleaning it and makes the yarn stick together so it won't fray as much when you cut it.Scalpay Linenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06810596833903739464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7745566406854928141.post-77833468703196042462010-01-18T17:05:50.197+00:002010-01-18T17:05:50.197+00:00My linsey woolsey throw arrived on friday the 15th...My linsey woolsey throw arrived on friday the 15th and I am delighted with it - autumn colors are my favorite and this color combination is really lovely! I especially like the gloss of the linen fibers. I can't wait to share it with my fellow weavers at our February guld meeting!

I am curious as to what the mill does to the yardage in the finishing process?
PatriciaMamacitahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13072976957727367847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7745566406854928141.post-42689528762317019602010-01-14T10:34:05.003+00:002010-01-14T10:34:05.003+00:00Thanks for comments. Getting plenty exercise and waiting now for my sock wool to arrive!! Pippin is a mass of raging hormones so the sooner he gets to the vet the better! Daisy lurking in amongst the flock - she can't hide because she's the only white one. Can't tell yet if there's a lamb, but we'll be bringing her into the field under the house at the beginning of March to keep an eye on her. Watch this space.......Scalpay Linenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06810596833903739464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7745566406854928141.post-1195771694402936862010-01-14T00:07:02.681+00:002010-01-14T00:07:02.681+00:00Wow Sheila - some machine! It was a bit dodgy to start with as I had to get more needles and then it seemed to want to slip more stitches in the ribbing than it wanted to knit but now its just motoring. In the late 1970's I earned my living for a while machine knitting socks on a Fosters Victoria Automatic which we bought new from Fosters in Preston, Lancashire. The Berridge is slightly different but the principal is the same. If it wasn't for the cold in the loomshed, I probably wouldn't have spent the time sorting it out. I'm really glad I did!Scalpay Linenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06810596833903739464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7745566406854928141.post-72717674646107810742010-01-12T17:21:42.029+00:002010-01-12T17:21:42.029+00:00Love that machine!
