This was the view from my loomshed window at exactly midnight last night just as the pips were on the radio! Now we know that it wasn't midsummer night, but it was such a lovely sky - the wisps of dark cloud at the top of the photo remind me so much of Hebridean wool when it comes off the carder...
Anyway, talking about Hebridean sheep - which as you know is one of my favourite subjects - they are being sheared one by one as their fleeces start to loosen.
So this is the start of next year's Handspun Hebridean Harris Tweed (H3T). The more fleeces the merrier, so anyone in the Outer Hebrides who might be reading this and have some good dark brown Heb fleeces, please contact me and I'll collect.

Not like you to be up at midnight! Bet you had a long-lie today tho
We should have 16 fleeces for you at some point in July.... just waiting our turn for the shearer to come to us. Is that JF?... he looks a dab hand with those blades.
A beautiful sky and well photographed! These light nights wake me up too early, but I do love the endless evening twilight, with the bats flickering around the eaves.
We're really burning the midnight oil these days - it's the only way to get any weaving done!
Hi Alpaca People - will be delighted to have your fleeces again. We have a little Harris Tweed dog for you, made out of the new Heb Harris Tweed, so we'll bring it up when we collect. JF is good with the shears - we use hand-shears only because with the Hebs we have to shear them where we catch them, rather than gather them to a central point!
Hi DB - How lovely, bats! Don't think we have many of those around here. It's mainly daddy-long-legsies flapping around after dark!
